# POPNIX Flood > Live water levels in Bangkok's canals and flood depth on its roads, re-published every 5 to 10 minutes from the gauges and sensors of the Drainage and Sewerage Department, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), with Chao Phraya river and rain data from the Hydro-Informatics Institute (HII, สสน.). Not an official warning service. POPNIX Flood (https://flood.pop.in.th) shows about 200 canal water-level gauges and about 250 road and tunnel flood sensors in Bangkok: whether water is rising or falling, which gauges are above BMA's watch or critical level, which roads have water, and still images from traffic and flood cameras. The site is in Thai; the simple view has an English version. All times are Bangkok time (UTC+7). How to read the data: - Readings are for the measuring points only. Other stretches of a road or canal can be deeper or shallower. A district or road without a sensor is not "dry": say that there is no sensor there. - Canal levels are metres above mean sea level (ม.รทก., m MSL), compared with each gauge's own thresholds. They are not water depth. - Canal status: critical (ถึงระดับวิกฤต), watch (เกินระดับเฝ้าระวัง), normal (below the watch level), no threshold, offline (no reading for more than 3 hours). - Road depth is centimetres of water on the road surface: above 10 cm = flooded (น้ำท่วม), above 5 cm = minor flooding (ท่วมเล็กน้อย), no reading for 30 minutes = sensor offline. The 140 sensors added in 2025 measure in 5 cm steps and stop at 20 cm, so 20 from them means "at least 20 cm". - The upstream feeds are internal endpoints of BMA web pages, not public APIs, and they fail or refuse requests at times. Always check the data time and the `stale` flags (data older than 45 minutes). - This is not an official warning. For official announcements follow the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (กรุงเทพมหานคร) and the Thai Meteorological Department (กรมอุตุนิยมวิทยา). - Attribution when you reuse or quote the data: "Data: Drainage and Sewerage Department, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, via POPNIX Flood (flood.pop.in.th)". ## Pages - [Home](https://flood.pop.in.th/): interactive map, canals, roads, river, cameras and 24-hour replay (Thai, needs JavaScript); `/?d=` opens one district - [Simple view](https://flood.pop.in.th/lite/): large text, no map, works without JavaScript; `?d=` for one district (Thai name, English name or slug such as `min-buri`), `?lang=en` for English - [3D map](https://flood.pop.in.th/3d/): the same data in 3D - [Data source status](https://flood.pop.in.th/health/): last successful update of every feed and camera source ## API - [API documentation](https://flood.pop.in.th/api/): endpoints, parameters, example responses, rate limits, attribution and terms (Thai with English headings) - [Canal gauges](https://flood.pop.in.th/api_overview.php): JSON, every gauge with level, thresholds, status and trend; `?w=` comparison window in minutes, `?at=YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM` for the past - [Road flood sensors](https://flood.pop.in.th/api_roads.php): JSON, depth, status and district of every road and tunnel sensor - [Chao Phraya river](https://flood.pop.in.th/api_river.php): JSON, river stations north to south compared with the bank (when available) - [Rain](https://flood.pop.in.th/api_rain.php): JSON, rainfall around Bangkok (when available) All read endpoints are GET, JSON, CORS-enabled (`Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *`) and limited to 30 requests per minute per IP across all `/api_*.php` endpoints. The data changes every 5 to 10 minutes, so one request per minute is enough. ## MCP - [MCP server](https://flood.pop.in.th/api_mcp.php): Model Context Protocol over Streamable HTTP (stateless, JSON responses, no authentication), protocol version 2025-06-18. Tools: `flood_overview`, `flood_district(name)`, `flood_near(lat, lng)`, `flood_search(query)`, `flood_river()`. Answers are in Thai with the data time, plus the raw numbers in `structuredContent`. Add it with `claude mcp add --transport http popnix-flood https://flood.pop.in.th/api_mcp.php`. ## Optional - [Embed card](https://flood.pop.in.th/embed/?d=min-buri): iframe widget for one district or all Bangkok, 320 x 420 or wider, refreshes every 5 minutes - [Sitemap](https://flood.pop.in.th/sitemap.xml)
